Erica, 8, returns home from school where her sister, Taryn, 16, is alone. Taryn informs Erica that she has invited a boy over and promptly demands that she stay out of the way. Displeased with the command, Erica ignores her sister and places herself at the center of the ‘date,’ refusing to leave the two teenagers alone. When Taryn changes her strategy and makes her appeal more gently, Erica finally lets them go upstairs on their own. She’s unable to distract herself, however, and her attention is increasingly drawn to the couple, shut away upstairs. Hearing a thud from above, she gives in to her curiosity and peeks through the doorway to see something she can’t quite understand. As Andrew leaves, Erica runs after him and misguidedly defends her sister in a stand-off.
