Happy Autumn from the POWFest Team! Submissions for the 2014 festival have just closed and we are working with over 100 volunteers to watch all of the films and collect the recommendations for our programming team. We are certainly excited about the number and quality of submissions we have received this year! Thank you for those who shared your films with us. We will be making our formal programming announcement in mid-January so stay tuned!
The 7th Annual festival is set for March 6-9, 2014. We hope to see you there!
POWFest Launches New Evaluation Service
After a successful pilot program during the summer of 2013, POWFest has launched a new service for filmmakers who submit films to POWFest. This service is designed to give filmmakers a detailed evaluation of their film which will include feedback on the original script, production value of the film, marketability, and ways to make the project more successful on the festival circuit.
Specifically filmmakers will receive:
-A written evaluation of the script by a professional screenwriter
-Notes on your film from the POWFest screening committee which includes film professionals
-A note from the POWFest Executive Director on how your film would best fit in the festival circuit
-A 30 minute online meeting with a professional writer, producer and film teacher
Currently the service is available to filmmakers who have submitted narrative films to POWFest during the seasons of 2008-2013. We will be launching this service for documentary filmmakers by the end of the year.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up today!
Cost: $75 / film evaluation

The purpose of this job shadow experience is to provide applicants with a clear, candid experience of what being a commercial director looks like. During the experience, students observe the company culture, how Juliana interacts with crew and talent, and what skills and abilities are needed each day. Of course each individual case/project has its own set of demands and the @Large team strives to create extremely rewarding opportunities and life experiences for every participant. Juliana’s theory? “If more women see it, then more of them will be it.”
